We would like to announce that the RideforEric trustees have taken the tough decision to close the charity after 6 wonderful years.
Following an amazing inaugural bike ride in Eric's memory, when we first set up as a charity, we aimed to raise funds for bereavement services, as well as promote safe cycling events and initiatives and encourage more people to cycle.
Our events have been able to raise nearly £30,000 for great causes, including for Cavendish Cancer Care and Hope's traumatic bereavement services and for cycling equipment for young people who participated in our Hills2Boro challenge. We are very proud that our donations have made a real impact on peoples' lives.
The cycling picture in the city has also changed so much since we established and much of what we set out to do, is being delivered by other brilliant organisations and with new cycling infrastructure being developed for the city. We can all see the increase in numbers of cyclists on our streets which is fantastic to see.
With all this in mind, it feels like now is the right time to bring the charity to a close and throw all our support behind the other organisations in the city.
We could have never achieved what we have, without all the support we’ve had since we established – the businesses who sponsored our rides, the volunteers who made it happen, our local community, all our riders and the individuals who have shared, retweeted and donated to us over the years. We want to say a huge THANK YOU.
